[ver2.0] it's a Bonnie and Clyde thing..... GD ft. CL - R.O.D live stage
Monday, September 30, 2013
here I am, taking some time from my busy schedule to make a review (again) on GD and CL's ROD stage..... it's ver 2.0

now basically what I think about this song issomething like a couple proclaiming their unconditional love for each other.... this line "with you I Ride or Die" just tells me that the couple in this song will beat all odds as long as they are together........
now the imagery that comes to mind is something like they are both some kind of a wild, runaway, ghetto(?)[no offense meant] couple.... well you know what I mean right? more like the Bonnie and Clyde level of "ride or Die"......

that concept in my mind had amazingly made concrete by GD and CL's live stage.....
in this stage, they presented themselves as a couple, in their matching outfits and couple SWAG

it was CL, in her sexy and swag parts that really made my initial concept of the song made real...... she gave out that feeling of a wild runaway girlfriend that will stick to her boyfriend no matter where and no matter what the situation me........ "RIDE or DIE"....... [no offense meant; but that image just tells me they are a couple who are madly in love with each other and makes love every night... hahahaha]

the ending part was the most DEABAK of all parts though.... that moment when GD grabbed CL's hands, then they went up to the platform together and wrapped his arms around CL's shoulder..... gosh! that made me say, "they are the madly in love couple the song tells me"..... that was seriously cool.....

yeah, so in this stage they were a couple..... a SWAG couple.... a strong one..... one that really pledges to each other "with you it's either I RIDE or I DIE"

end note: though I love them on this stage, it's just the performance that I love..... CL and GD as a couple??? no!!! they may have this chemistry that jives with each other, but it's more like the best friend thing or the counter part thing, or the partner thing..... but not as intimate couples....... they are just so full of SWAG that their swags just overpower each other.........

[okay I end here..... CL so PRETTY!!!!]

Ride or Die; GD's R.O.D stage
Sunday, September 29, 2013
so this will be quick... I just want to express how much I LOVEd that ROD stage of GD today..... and yes, CL gave a great impact....

to start off... this ROD song of GD has always been one of my fave songs in his new album.... really love the beat, the lyrics and the feel of it..... and I was really thankful upon knowing that he'll bring ROD to stage..... though I was not really open to the fact that CL will do Lysia Paek's lines..... when we could put Lydia on.... [considering Lydia is an underground artist, I can understand though]

thankfully (and expectedly) CL did a nice job.....

that moment she started singing behind those bars in her overflowing swag, I know she'll bring something daebak to stage... [though her overflowing swag kinda missed to sync at some parts]

well I love this stage.... perfect concept, perfect outfits, and good chemistry.....
CL and GD's swag made this stage perfect for the song.... it's because the song kinda talks about a strong type of relationship.... where it's either they "ride or die" together...... yeah, the Bonnie and Clyde kind of thing (it was mentioned in the lyrics actually)... and when you know the story of Bonnie and Clyde, I think you'd imagine the imagery of this song gives to me..... [kekeke]

so yeah, both their SWAG gave off that bonnie and clyde peg.....
I love the last parts, where they started acting like a SWAGFULL couple and then ended up holding hand... oh now that's what I call "Ride or Die"........
[THOUGH, I don't really see a couple-ish image in them.... prolly because both their charisma keep on overflowing each other sometimes.] but In this stage, they gave me an image of a couple who in their SWAGiest relationship, Rides or Dies with each other.....

yeah it's the Bonnie and Clyde thing... ahahhaha

P.S. CL is really pretty lately.....

WATCH IT HERE:
[and yeah, I'm putting this on my featured videos...]

Raising the RED flag; GD's Coup D'etat
Saturday, September 7, 2013

so this week (I know I'm a week behind) I'm doing GD's Coup D'etat..... which, kinda made me speechless at first....

really.... at first glance at this MV I was like..... ".........................." then I tried to listen to it again and try to take out some sense in it..... and the only thing I "kinda" managed to decode is that his song is trying to overthrow something.... like this song is his "coup d'etat" ( coup d'etat - "n" ; means to overthrow a state)..... and then the symbolism present only tells me about how media can be so blind at times..... then he starts off with "the revolution need not to be televised" line.....
which really means to me that...... he is trying to overthrow/ turn over/ mock the media????..... maybe....

so I have this random acquaintance in facebook (and she goes by the fb acc: Cammile Asi) who posted this link of a review explaining the symbolism of GD's MV ...... I read it and yeah... it's kinda near to what I initially observed from the MV....

so I'll just go through some points in it (and if you may, please take time to read the link first.... =) )

so the review basically tells us that this song is GD's Coup D'etat from the meida/netizens.... it's like GD is trying to tell the world not to see him as G-dragon all the time but as Jiyoung as well.... and that coup d'etat is like trying to tell the whole world that he is announcing a revolution against how the netizen world sees him....

you might wanna believe that.... but I see it though as a metaphor of the industry GD is in right now.... how (the same thing) the media blindly looks upon the celebrities/idols.....

so just allow me to take you through fragments of symbolism that I want to highlight from the mv and from the other review as well.....

so first: this scene..... where GD is trapped in a cylindrical cage with a pendulum and the cage is about to collapse.....
this is where celebrities stand on..... inside a dangerous place where you never know when will it collapse and kill you..... but see how he stands there feeling really calm....  it more like tells us that celebrities sometimes tend to do dangerous acts and yet
stay there and risk their lives/names for it...

which is also the same in this next screen cap where he is blindfolded and cooly stands there when everyone is stoning him and he just stands there...

this one, I kind of see it really cute... (well because there's this cute boy.. hahaha) this one is kinda significant to me.... since I'm dreaming of the same thing........
well, this scene shows us this boy standing infront of what is said to be a grave.. with his right hand over his heart... more like pledging loyalty to it....
for me it tells me that this kid is dreaming of being on that grave too (being an idol, perhaps)............. and pretty soon he'll really get there...

now this is quite my favorite scene... because it fits to what I though it is.....
now we can see a boiling pot of money and grease....
and in the next photo a lazy and set backed Gdragon just sitting around boiling pots of dirty money....
this signifies that idols are sometimes treated as pot boiler of producers or their company itself.

(Potboilers: projects bearing not much creative significance but is still pushed through because it is projected to gain lots of profit... usually seen as low-quality or hastily produced for the sake of profit. [which explains why the money in the pots are dirty])

and if we place it in GD's case... people only see him as YG's potboiler.... a person who just lazily waits for money to come.... because whatever he does he'll eventually gain big money. He is GDragon anyway.

now this one is kinda obvious..... from the looks of it... GD is CLEARLY telling us that the media is mostly blind..... they report on what they see on the outer side and not what is really there to be known of the celebrity....

moving on, I really wanna believe that this talks more about GD, himself.....
as we can see behind him are the masks he used to represent himself back then during the HeartBreaker promotions..... this is the many faces of him that we all know (well more like we think we knew) but a part in this scene when he crushed it out, tells us that it is not the real him....
"what is white is not really white, what is black is not really black..."

the last part of the mv was more of overcoming all these..... with GD winning his Coup D'etat..... with all the red flags raised behind him....
hmmm but did he really succeed in his Coup D'etat...... I faintly have an idea......

now let's have a quick detour over his album art.... as we can see it's something that looks like the peace sign we all know but it lacks one diagonal line at the right side..... which means peace is not complete and there is no such existence of peace at all ......

now it made me wonder for a bit how come GD came up with this kind of concept for an album.... I was thinking.... maybe he's tired of all the issues the kpop world is engaged on at the moment..... or.... he is tired of the media looking over his life and giving him a blind eye....... or............ [worst case scenario] is he having an internal rebellion over papa YG?????? [YG Stans.... would you buy this thought???] I won't believe...... it's probably one of the first two...... [ahahhaha]

yes or no question?.....
GD's COUP D'ETAT...... YES or NO?????
