non-human lovestory; MY LOVE FROM ANOTHER STAR
Saturday, May 3, 2014
let me start by saying, ....I know a good drama when I see one..... because I end up seeing it in my dreams..... LOL.another Drama complete! and it's not your usual Drama, this time it's from the stars!
MY LOVE FROM THE STAR
[not your usual drama]
when we say it's not your usual, we mean it! This doesn't only compose of the usual leading man-leading lady- villain format of characters because for the first time in forever, [well, it's my first time to encounter such] we have an alien in our midst! And no, he doesn't look green, nor does he had antennas on. this Alien-Leading man is so like our usual-handsome-manly leads. but this time he has super powers. Let's just say he is a mutant of some sort. Plus he is a vampire (he never gets old).
My Love From The Star (alternately known as: My love from another star/ You who came from the star) is a story of a famous yet not so lucky actress by the name Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) who came to have
this some kind of fate to meet the Alien Neighbor/Class Professor/Manager/Protector, Do Min Joon (Kim So Hyun)
there are a number of reasons why I'd really want to give a BIG round-of-applause to the makers of this drama.
first off is because of the story itself, again, this is the first time (well, in as much as I can remember) that a Drama was made so magical yet so realistic at the same time. Unlike some other dramas that meddle with magic or super powers or anything supernatural (let's just say Queen Inhyun's Man), this drama is the closest to reality. I mean, it's not so usual, and kind of impossible, for a person to own a talisman and travel through time and space and have the history changing from time-to-time to happen in real life, right; but in this case, who knows, your neighbor might be an alien who lived for years and years like Professor Do (yeah, I'd like to call Do Min Joon Prof. Do. kekeke).
second, I love their story-telling format. I love how they played with all those flashbacks and narrations of such. Also, those clips playing right after the closing credits and the beginning credits are a genius! it's where some parts of the episode are justified because in-between clips/back stories of some scenes are explained through these extras. It's like the makers really wanted the audience to watch the episodes from it's first second until the very end of it. And yes, they succeeded! In other dramas, these spots are used for reviews and previews of the other episodes [and I would always end up wanting to skip them], but in this one, it's not. It suddenly became a requirement to watch out even after the closing credits because you might miss something out.third, I love these little POV interviews/diary entries. another genius! it explains more about how the
characters are feeling and gives us more opportunity to grasp the whole story... Sometimes they even end up being confessions of such. But what is it's connection to the present situation in the drama? Nothing, it's just somewhat another extra clip which was inserted in-between scenes. But amazingly they didn't ruin the whole flow of the drama, they even made it more amazing!

Even the teen stars were good looking.
though......... I just have to say, the OST was not that catchy for me, saaareh!\
like I've said, I know a good thing when I see one, same goes to music. didn't really got lost in it with the music.... though I love that "you are my destiny" song... [sorry, didn't know the title, and just can't look it up online since there's been a problem with my computer right now.... I'll do better next time *low bows*]
nevertheless; all-in-all I thank you SBS for giving us this drama.... it was so funny, heart-warming and heartbreaking all at the same time. Well, I haven't cried so hard over a drama ever since Kang Chi.
and so I firmly say that this drama is a must watch! tell me I have bad taste if you don't like this.... because this is so good!
don't you agree????? leave me your comment now!
