BAP (Bacolod Asian Pop) fest '15
Monday, November 23, 2015
Who would ever know Bacolod City would have such passionate KPOP fans, well I didn't really expect that until I came to my first Kpop convention last November 8, 2015 at SMX Convention Center Bacolod.
Bacolod Asian Pop Festival was headed by a group known as Japiko Productions. It was a mixture of Japan and Korea in one.
Well I came because of one, I just thought my blog is bored and two, I just wondered what ever happens on conventions like such; thus I went.
We arrived at around 2:30pm and there was this cosplay competition happening. But we don't really like Anime stuff so we just checked out the booths while waiting for the Kpop Cover Contest.
one of the few kpop fan booths we saw was this, BEAST PH's booth. they had lots of displays like albums(signed ones) photos, photo booklets and even the official light stick [yeah, I loved that rose light stick!]. Well what a fan booth sould really look like I say. It was really a nice set up I say, especially for people who doesn't really know the group. [well let's just say people like me. hahahah!] They had the members' profiles displayed at one side and some interactive games at the other.
well for the sake of making the most out of that day, we tried their make shift dice game. All you had to do was throw the dice with the members' faces on it, and if you get at least two same faces facing up, you get to have a polaroid photo. Such a cute game I say. It was for 2php per throw, and it was nice to know the proceeds of their little booth will be donated to typhoon Lando victims. so it was kinda heart warming in our part to enjoy a little and help a little at the same time. And yes, the BeastPh girls were so friendly I have to say. =)
so here's us playing with the dice game...... so cute.
Let's also say it was not only the kpop booths that got me excited. I may not be an anime fan but action figs always has a good place in my heart. I definitely had a blast checking out these big Gundam figs and the Matchbox cars and Hot wheels as well.
hahaha have to admit it took me quite some time to leave this spot...
I just love this little city with all the moving cars in it.
so as the long wait goes on (and the seeming like unending pool of cosplayers being judged on stage), I came across these team who are preparing for the Kpop Cover contest. I asked for a photo and they were on their game to give me their best SNSD pose.
Sone Generation
as soon as the wait was finally over we took our spot in front of the stage just almost touching the edge of it.... [joke! not really] with our excitement building and our feels getting high, the show finally started.
it was opened by a cover group called "GIZIBE" who are obviously YG stans for they did not only come as 2NE1 but they did 3 YG family numbers. how great!
it was an uproar actually, the came up on stage looking like 2NE1 but then the music started playing and it was not a 2ne1 song but iKon's Rhythm Ta........ and the rest was history...... [no, joke. just "crazy"] everyone started cheering and fan chanting to the song [even I wasn't able to stop myself.]
They also did a song cover of Eye’s Nose Lips (Lydia Paek’s
version) and a sing and dance cover of 2NE1’s Crush. They were pretty
awesome so to speak. And Che nailed the CL eye make up I just want to ask her
for a tutorial!! ahahaha
There were a total of 23 (if my memory tells me right) of cover
groups that night. So I think I’ll just go over some who caught my attention.
Let me start with these girls. I forgot their group name
(SORRY!) but they were absolutely good. They did Big Bang songs and nailed it. What’s so interesting about this performance was that they made it absolutely
like a mini concert; with the YG dancers and all. Like seriously, their dancers
were totally like the Hightech oppas and Crazy unnies. And yes, because they
were “BigBang” people went really crazy.
Now I totally believe BTS has such a great number of ARMYs
everywhere. These two groups were one of the hot stuff that night. Fan chants
were so loud you’d think the audience was made up of 80% ARMY, 15% kpop fans
who knew BTS songs and %5 who didn’t really care about BTS……. (well I’d have to
say I was kinda fan chanting too. But me no Army. So I’m with the 15% then.. LOL)
AOA made an appearance too! Now this group was kinda interesting to me.Through this cover group who did
AOA’s Heart Attack you'll actually think the girls of AOA came.
I was
watching/taking pictures of them and on random times I’d have glimpses of the
real AOA members in them. They portrayed their characters effectively that
I kinda saw Seolhyun, and Choa on stage.
(is it really, or is it just me?....
hahahah!)
One of the groups that were really good is this one, Clash
of Crystals (COC). They are a cover group of CLC and I think they did great. They
brought to stage to cuteness and prettiness of the CLC girls. Their performance
was so clean that I want to believe they were one of the strongest contenders there. They
totally nailed CLC!
These girls were one of the totally cheered for groups that
time. These cheerleaders turned cover group members rocked the stage with
Sistar’s I Swear and Shake it.
Sabyul
As hot as their name suggests, these girl totally rocked
their cover of EXID’s Oh Yeah and Up and Down. HOT EXID, a group of sexy girls
who almost threw over the original EXID for their sexiness.
So I just have to put this group last, because they’re
totally the hottest among all the groups who performed that night. BLUE SUPERIOR. Well if it rang a bell in your mind then you probably know why I’d
dare call them “hottest”.
They are a cover group of the Super Junior oppas and I
think they’re quite known already among the kpop cover niche of Bacolod. (we were actually waiting for the contest to start when I saw the boys first. I started asking if they are an EXO cover group but everyone kept telling me they're SuJu... okay! am I the only one who didn't know?! ahahha)
I called it a “crazy” stage because the audience really went crazy. It was a total uproar. Girls were screaming like it was a legit concert they’re watching. They were almost touching the edge of the stage even. They were totally out of it that the hosts had to ask them to move back and calm down after the group’s stage. I can’t really quite grasp it though, if was it because SuJu had just a great number of fans here in the City or it’s just the groups own fans? (I wanna believe it’s a collision of both). Neverthe less, I know the group enjoyed the fans, and the fans enjoyed spazzing as well.

this photo, I didn't want to post it 'cuz it's blurry but just want to show you how well the girls welcomed them.
Sorry, I was not able to get all the group names because I
was(well we were) actually busy hating on the hosts that night. Hihihi. So we
were quite not listening every time they speak. I don’t know, they were not
prepared or something like that. The girls voice was cracking up, high pitched and
obviously nervous and the guy feels like he doesn’t know anything. (I’m not so
perfect with my hosting skills myself but I know a good one from a bad one, we
were trained to distinguish both apart you see.) Sorry girl and boy hosts, and
to the organizers, I just have to be Candor about this. But yeah, let’s improve
in the future shall we?
We were actually not able to finish the show since we had to
go. But I can say it was a good one. Not only for us, kpop fans, but also for
the Anime fans as well. With all the activities and booths that entertained us
all, I give them a thumbs up!
I actually came in as a blogger, but I think I went home as
a fangirl. I was busy taking pictures, yes, but fan chanting and screaming at
the same time.
To the organizers, the fan clubs and everyone who
participated, GOOD JOB!
See you soon on the next conventions or sumthing.
Chech out my photos on my FB page as well! (sorry I’m kinda
rusty on my camera, so my photos are “move-y” hiihihi https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1108068405872003.1073741834.607717579240424&type=1
