K.A.R.D!!!!
I know you all have heard all about them. This group is DSP's last chance for survival[oops!] naaah just joking... This is DSP Media's break through to the KPOP world.
KARD is a new idol group with mixed members. The group is composed of BM, JSEPH, SOMIN and JIWOO who basically proved to us that synergy with boys and girls for a kpop group is possible.

Now before I continue, let me take you back a few years ago [2010 to be specific], when a mixed project group debuted in the kpop scene. That was Co-ed School.[again if we were connected on social media you would know I used to like them.] They were the first mixed gender group(under CCM) to debut as idols. though they only lasted around two comebacks [or wait was it two singles??mola!] anyhow... they did not work. it seemed more like a collab project than an actual group. [I quote one yt vlogger. sorry can't locate his video anymore]
and if by any chance you are wondering where they are right now? the girls formed a group we previously knew as 5Dolls and the boys later on came back as SPEED. so that's that.
...
So here we are six years later and DSP made a bold move to introduce a supposedly project group that shook the whole world. KARD... that one break through of a mixed group. What sets this group apart from the first co-ed group that we know is that their genre is the perfect epitome of a mixed gender group.
Though they might have a girly-girl and a manly-man member, their moves and their image seems to be unisex. Their energies match and they are moving as one group doing the boy stuff and the girl stuff all together. And that's what made them even more DOPE~!
By far they already had 3 singles before their official debut and that is a series that goes with the K-A-R and one full album with the D-DEBUT!
So again, I think the reason why they did not have an official debut on their first single was because they were supposedly be a project group. You know that one group where their company would say "kick them out of the nest and see if they can fly" [ I quote from the series ONE THREE HILL] , and if not, they'll just go back to the dungeons.
But thankfully, they flew away like soaring high! people loved the mixed-unisex image they were projecting and so they continued with two more singles, a world tour, and finally an official debut.
so let's go through their pre-debut songs shall we?
KARD was first introduced to the public with OH NANA; Dec 2016... and the world was so blown! Well I was.... I am[partly] a DSP trash because of KARA and I was too curious when I learned DSP is debuting a new group.
And then OH NANA happened. swear it was epic! One of the main points that got me too hooked up with Oh nana was the point dance. TOO STRONG AND FEARLESS!!! Oh Nana was a strong and hip song that could have been perfect for an official debut.
The song talks about falling in love and keeping that love real. It's beats were a mixture of techno and tropical sounds. It's choreography and beat were too fit for a mixed group like theirs. and yes! TROPICAL!!! I love tropical beats... they make you wanna dance.
so that's that. OH NANA seriously did a big blow in the kpop world, and so is on my life. ahahahah
and I seriously love how they somewhat coined that word; REALER.

[and I loved Jiwoo since then]...........

Next on the list is "A~~"*insert BM's whispering here* hahahah; DON'T RECALL. This time Don't recall is a soft-tempo song with(of course) a tropical base. The song talks about falling apart from your love. Basically a break up song(?) I believe. It's point dance is what they called "LIKE A LION" where it was described as mimicing a lion scratching it's sides. What makes this point dance a catchy one[and this is by far my fave point dances] is the tropical music feels to it. I can't really say if that's a syn, or a trumpet(?) a saxophone(?) that goes "tenenen ten teeen"[hahaha am I really typing this? lol] I actually love this song because of it's point dance. "tenenen ten teeeeen~"..............

R is for RUMOR. This is basically my fave among all the KARD songs. That is because this is the most tropical one among all the songs they have. Rumor is plain tropical and I LOVE IT! it's so hip! believe me!!
So Rumor is a song that talks about your "ex" like somewhat that period after breaking up and you're still curious about that the other person is doing. Some sort of in that line of conversation. You know what I mean. ahahhaha.. The point dance in this song is an awesome succession of body waves. This song basically has 80% body waves in it's choreography; and Jseph is killing it! hahahaha. I think everything in this song just suites my style. The costume is a win for me too. I love the Army-combat boots concept that they have. I don't know. Everything about RUMOR is love! .............even the MV is swag~! seriously, I still feel chills when I listen to it months after release. WHY!!!.....
July 19, 2017, a moth or two after Rumor, while they were busy going on tour, they prepared for their OFFICIAL DEBUT. This time they give us their debut song HOLA HOLA. This song is a lively and funky song with a Tropical House beat. Well let's just say it's a song perfect with the summer.
This song is probably the song that marks history for the members since it's the song where they officially debuted. Hola is a greeting in Spanish that means Hello, this is said to be their HELLO to the world as an official idol who just debuted [Jseph says]. Annyeong Annyeong~!
Hola Hola comes in an Album with two more songs apart from the four I just mentioned......

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USx4WyrkfU4 >> HOLA HOLA
[I can make a review about it soon. along with the whole album contents.... I just ordered mine. hihihi...I'll try!!]
.............
If I were to rank their songs according to my preference, I'd go:
1. RUMOR
2. OH NANA (oh nana is still hip even after 6months)
3. HOLA HOLA
4. DON'T RECALL (seriously if it's not for the lion dance, I really don't feel this song)
From what I wanted to predict 6 months ago [if I successfully made my blog that time], KARD will seriously make it big. And I was not wrong. They are already making it big and they're still going to make it bigger.
One, because they are still, at this time, the only mixed-gender group in the kpop scene. Two, their genre is very unique to them only. and Three, their choreography always champions their key point dances that can never be at par with other groups. [yes, DSP chooses their teachers well. yung tipong ginastahan! aahahha]
DSP might have made a "desperate move" to try a mixed-gender group with KARD, however, I think that desperation met good results.
KARD is sweeping off the kpop scene slowly but surely. Soon, there might be a rise in many more official mixed-groups, but as a fan I would confidently say KARD STARTED IT ALL!
now I just want Kard to enjoy all the light for being the only mixed-gender group in KPOP. and I wish them all the best!!!
PS: this is me and my cover group BaeNana trying to pull off KARD every single time. This is our first stage with Oh Nana on that Army-combat boots concept. HI SIBS!!!
[imagine how stoked we were when we found out KARD did somewhat the same concept for RUMOR]
